INTERNS
An Intern is a doctor in training who has a medical degree but does still require supervision. The R2R Intern Program is a joint venture with Rural Doctors Workforce Agency (RDWA) & CALHN and Waikerie Medical Centre that facilitates intern rotations in Rural General practice for South Australia.
Interns rotate from Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) for a 10-week term in their year of supervised rotations. The interns get authentic rural experience during an important decision-making year. They are immersed in a full scope of rural practice early in their careers ensuring that Rural general practice then features as an option as they decide on a medical specialty/direction.
